Upon arrival, we set foot into the enchanting embrace of montane forests, where the trail winds its way through a tapestry of lush greenery. Immersed in the symphony of nature, with birdsong as our soundtrack, we make our way to Mti Mkubwa Camp, a sanctuary amidst towering trees.

Energized by a hearty breakfast, we resume our ascent through the captivating heather moorland zone. Each step forward carries us deeper into the heart of the wilderness, where the rugged beauty of Kilimanjaro unfolds before our eyes.

Crossing babbling streams and traversing undulating terrain, we eventually arrive at Shira 1 Camp, a tranquil oasis nestled in a meadow beside a babbling brook. Here, amidst the expansive moorland, we find solace in the simplicity of nature’s embrace.

With the golden rays of dawn illuminating our path, we embark on another day of adventure. Trekking across the sprawling Shira Plateau, we’re treated to sweeping vistas of majestic peaks and rolling valleys.

As we journey towards Shira 2 Camp, the rhythmic cadence of our footsteps echoes the timeless melody of the mountains. Surrounded by the untamed beauty of the moorland, we pause to savor the profound tranquility that envelops us.

Today’s expedition leads us on a captivating ascent towards the iconic Lava Tower, a natural marvel known as the “Shark’s Tooth.” As we navigate the rugged terrain, our gaze is drawn to the imposing silhouette of Kilimanjaro, standing proud against the sky.

Continuing our journey, we descend towards Barranco Camp, tracing a path that winds through the semi-desert landscape. Though our elevation remains consistent, each step is vital for acclimatization, preparing our bodies for the challenges that lie ahead.

With the first light of dawn illuminating our surroundings, we bid farewell to Barranco Camp and embark on a steep ascent up the Barranco Wall. As we climb, the sheer magnitude of Kilimanjaro’s beauty becomes even more apparent, invigorating our spirits.

Cresting the summit of the Barranco Wall, we descend into the Karanga Valley, where a junction awaits, connecting us with the Mweka Trail. Amidst the stark beauty of the alpine desert, we press onward towards Karanga Camp, our home for the night

Our journey continues ever upward as we push towards Barafu Camp, the final waypoint before our summit attempt. Traversing the rugged terrain of the alpine desert, we are rewarded with unparalleled views of Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peaks.
