The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, the starting point of the Northern Circuit route. After completing registration formalities, the trek commences through lush rainforests filled with a rich variety of flora and fauna. The day's hike is relatively gentle, culminating at Mti Mkubwa Camp, where trekkers set up their tents for the first night on the mountain.
The trail ascends gradually through the moorland zone, granting hikers glimpses of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau. Shira 1 Camp offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and serves as an ideal spot for acclimatisation.
The route leads trekkers to higher elevations, entering the alpine desert zone. As the vegetation thins out, the path becomes more rugged and rocky. Moir Hut, situated in the shadows of Lent Hills, provides a tranquil setting for trekkers to rest and acclimatise.

Today's trek takes trekkers through the remote northern section of the mountain. Pofu Camp, which means "buffalo" in Swahili, is situated in an area where buffalo are occasionally spotted.
The trail gradually descends, offering trekkers a break from the challenging terrain. Third Cave Camp provides a picturesque setting with stunning views of the vast plains below.
