This 7-day Machame route is the one of the most popular tour packages to climb Mount Kilimanjaro at 5895m, 19,340ft above the sea level, which offer a good acclimatization opportunity and a high success rate around 85%, for a successful summit. Normally departure will start from Moshi to Machame route’s gate on the southern base of Mount Kilimanjaro, trekking through shira 2 - Lava Tower – Barancco - Karanga to Barafu the base camp towards the summit Uhuru Peak and then descending on the eastern side via Mweka route - gate back to Moshi.
This 7-day Machame route begins in the lush rainforest and passes through a variety of landscapes, the final ascent to the summit is challenging, but also considered to be the most scenic route.

A Short drive from Moshi to machame gate which will take 50 minutes; passing along the beautiful village of machame. After check in formalities at the gate, we will start hiking going through the montane forest, making our way to machame camp.

Depart from our camp after breakfast and proceed hiking through the forest. We will keep trekking as we soak in the beautiful scenery along the way, making our way through the moorlands. The route will diverge to west side onto a river gorge. Dinner and overnight will be offered at shira campsite.

On this day we will depart from shira plateau and proceed eastwards up a ridge. We will keep hiking and change our direction to the south east towards lava tower. Shortly after the tower we approach the second intersection which leads to the arrow glacier. There after we descend to barranco hut at altitude 13,000ft, where we will spend overnight. The day offers amazing scenery and ends up at almost the same altitude as when we started which provide the best acclimatization opportunity
Today we will proceed to acclimatize, in preparation for an upcoming summit push. We will hike the intimidating barranco wall, and from the top we go on a wavering sequence of ridges and valleys before arrival at karanga camp. This is short day to allow enough acclimatization chance.

After breakfast we proceed hiking and reach the intersection which joins with mweka trail. We will then continue to barafu hut where early dinner will be offered as we prepare for summit. The peaks of kibo and mawenzi can be vividly seen here.

Around midnight, you'll wake up for a tough trek to the summit. This part is harder than the rest. After packing snacks, we'll trek to the summit between glaciers. It's steep and rocky. At Stella point, we rest and watch a beautiful sunrise, Snow might be there onwards. Reach Africa's highest peak, take lots of photos, enjoy briefly to avoid sickness. Descend to Mweka hut, stopping for lunch. The path is rocky and hard on knees, so trekking poles help. After reaching camp, last dinner, rest.
This will be the last day of our trekking and we will begin it after having a tasty breakfast in the camp, our trek to the mweka gate will take about three hours. After reaching the gate you will be awarded with a gold certificate for successfully reaching the summit after that we will head to mweka village and meet our driver who will take you back to your hotel for a long well-earned rest.
