Following breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Lemosho Gate (2,385m), where you can register with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities. In order to reach Big Tree Camp (2,780m), you will then begin your trek through the verdant rainforest from there. Dinner will be served, and you’ll spend the night in a tent.
Following breakfast, you’ll carry on your hike through the jungle and into the heathlands. After arriving at Shira 1 Camp (3,505m), you’ll have lunch there before continuing on to the Shira Plateau for a quick acclimatization hike and then making your way back to Shira 1 Camp for dinner and the night.
You will continue your hike to Shira 2 Camp (3,840m) after breakfast across the Shira Plateau. You’ll stop for lunch along the way, which will take about 4-6 hours. You will have dinner and stay overnight in a tent.
Following breakfast, you’ll begin your day with a steady ascent to Lava Tower (4,640m), a volcanic formation that provides breathtaking views of the surroundings. Next, you will descend to Barranco Camp (3,950m), where you will spend the night and have dinner.
A challenging ascent of the Barranco Wall will be your day’s first task after breakfast. Although this can be difficult, the scenery is spectacular. You will trek to Barafu Camp (4,600m), within 3 to 4 hours. The final camp before the summit attempt, after reaching the summit, through the mountain desert. After eating dinner and getting some rest, you’ll get up at midnight to attempt the summit.
The ascent to the summit will begin early on day seven (around midnight). Approximately 1,295 meters of elevation are gained during the 6- to 8-hour trek. You will reach the summit, Uhuru Peak (5,895m), just before sunrise. Prior to beginning your descent to Mweka Camp (3,080m), you will have some time to pause and take pictures while taking in the scenery. You will have dinner and stay overnight in a dormitory-style, and then get ready to start the journey back to Moshi Town.
