The departure done in Moshi town, starting with a drive for approx 3hrs to Lemosho gate, hiking crossing Lava Tower to the base camp (Barafu) before the summit at Uhuru Peak then descending via Mweka gate back to Moshi.

Start our adventure by leaving Moshi for a 3 hours’ drive to Londorosi gate, after all the formalities are handled, the drive will continue for one hour to Lemosho trailhead. After arrival lunch will be served and we will start hiking through the wild and thick rainforest which leads to the first camp

Today after breakfast we start our trek of the day which will take us about 8 to 10 hours. The journey of today is 18 kilometers through volcanic rocks that are draped by lichen beards. The trek is very scenic as we pass through rolling hills and stream till we reach to Shira Camp 1 when we will have a break for lunch. After lunch we proceed to Shira Camp 2 via Kibo glacier peak as we walk Eastwards. Dinner and overnight at Shira 2 Camp.

On this day we trek for 6 to 8 hours covering a journey of 10 Kilometers. We continue to the East up to the ridge through the junction towards the Kibo Peak. The direction will shortly change to the South East to the Lava tower called the Sharks Tooth. The trek will continue down to the Barranco Hut where we will have our tents and rest for the rest of the day.

Our day begins by descending into the start of the Great Barranco, a huge ravine. We then exit steeply, up the Great Barranco Wall, which divides us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo. It’s a climb over rock, not technical but long and tiring. Passing beneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers, we head towards the Karanga valley. From here we have a steep climb up from Karanga valley to our night’s campsite at Karanga camp, set at 3963m. Then we proceed to Barafu Camp where we will rest and enjoy dinner as we prepare for the summit on the next day.

Today we will wake up around midnight have some tea and snacks and dress up warm for the summit. You will start your summit and in about two to three hours you will start crossing the zigzag area and keep moving to the crater rim and finally Stella point, 5756 meters. At Stella point, you will meet people from other routes like Marangu and Rongai routes and join them heading to Uhuru peak about 1 hour from Stella point. You will be able to see the sunrise at Stella point or on your way to Uhuru or at Uhuru peak 5895m, and then you will stay for 10 – 15 minutes for pictures and view, and after, descend to Barafu Campsite for resting brunch and later on descend to Mweka Camp.

Today after breakfast, we will continue the descent down to the Mweka Gate (1640m) to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy). From the Mweka gate, our vehicle will be ready to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi for a hot shower and long rest
