After breakfast at your hotel, receive a comprehensive briefing from your guide. At 8:30 a.m., meet our other guides and porters as we transport you to Kilimanjaro National Park. While officially registering for your climb at Marangu Park Gate, our team will perform a final equipment check and load the vehicles. After registration, travel an additional 70 kilometers on rough roads to the Rongai Start Point at 1,950 meters. The trek commences at Nale Moru village, leading through lush maize and potato fields before entering a rainforest teeming with diverse wildlife. After 4-5 hours of trekking, relish boiled washing water and snacks, followed by dinner in the mess tent.
Awakened following your mountain night, savor a morning brew—coffee, tea, or hot chocolate—at 6:30 a.m. within your tent. Post-breakfast, embark on your ascent along a trail leading to Kibo. Throughout the day, ascend slopes bordered by heather and erica, marveling at Kilimanjaro's twin peaks, Mawenzi and Kibo, along with your initial glimpse of the eastern crater rim's ice fields. As we approach the second cave, our cook extends a warm camp welcome, offering boiled drinking water and hot washing water. Relax with snacks and a hot lunch, leaving ample time to bask in the camp's ambiance and capture memories.
Following breakfast and packing, you continue your steady ascent through Moorland toward Mawenzi's rugged peaks, drawing nearer to the captivating Eastern ice fields. Mind your well-being and promptly communicate any altitude sickness symptoms to your guide.
This stage to Mawenzi Tarn is a brief, morning journey of less than 4-5km, yet it's steep, ascending 660m and shedding moorland greenery. The Mawenzi Tarn Hut graces an awe-inspiring location within a cirque beneath Mawenzi's jagged peaks. Later, an additional ridge walk in the west enhances acclimatization, providing the chance for breathtaking Kibo views if the skies remain clear.
Traverse the lunar desert expanse of the 'Saddle' between Mawenzi and Kibo, arriving at the Kibo campsite nestled beneath the Kibo crater wall. The day's remainder is dedicated to rest and readiness for the impending Summit Night ascent.
Your midnight wake-up call serves tea and marks the start of the summit challenge. In the dark, guided by headlamps, embark on a 6-hour ascent, adhering to the 'pole, pole' mantra. Landmarks like William’s Point and Hans Meyer Cave guide your progress. At Gilman’s Point (5,681m), witness a breathtaking sunrise, capture the moment, and continue towards your ultimate triumph: Uhuru Peak at 5,985m. Congratulations! Your guides will document your achievements for your loved ones.
After a brief summit moment, begin the descent due to altitude and cold. Enjoy a warm lunch back at Kibo Camp, followed by the journey to Horombo Hut. Conclude this challenging day with dinner, savoring your final night on the mountain.
Your final celebratory breakfast awaits, where our team will express gratitude uniquely. It's your chance to reciprocate their support with a heartfelt tip. Descend through Mandara Hut to Marangu Gate, savoring a celebratory beer while equipment is stowed, followed by lunch in Moshi, where your achievement certificate awaits. Afterward, return to your hotel for a well-deserved, rejuvenating hot shower.
