7 Days Climb Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route

Featuring captivating scenic vistas, pristine wildlife, excellent acclimatization opportunities and low traffic of climbers, Lemosho is our personal first favorite for reaching the roof of Africa. After a 4-hour long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate you'll find yourself on the western slope of Mt Kilimanjaro, from there the route will take you to the world-famous Shira Plateau. That's where you'll embark on your adventure through all climate zones - from alpine meadows to eternal ice. The climb is smooth and gradual, featuring the highest success rate of all routes on Kilimanjaro. Six, seven and eight-day programs are available, so you can choose depending on the amount of time at your disposal. Longer programs are always recommended over the shorter ones for better acclimatization.

where there are often stunning views of Kibo Peak floating on the clouds as we head

towards our destination, Shira 2. We gain a reasonable amount of altitude as we head

towards Shira 1 and parts of the route are fairly steep. As you proceed towards Shira 2 you

with some unusual views of Kibo. Our steady climb across the moorland of the Shira

Breach. You will reach the distinct pinnacle of the Lava Tower (4640m), our highest point

slopes of Kibo. This climb is not too technical but can still be long and tiring. Passing

underneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers, we head towards the Karanga valley. From here

we have a steep climb up from Karanga valley to our night’s camp at Karanga camp, set at

3963m. For those feeling strong, we will go for a mid-afternoon acclimatization trek up to

at 4640m. The climb will take us across desolate scree slopes with no vegetation around us

at all. It’s a tough steep hike made more difficult by the altitude. Upon arriving at camp we

eat and spend the afternoon resting as we prepare for a long night and day ahead. It is

important to stay hydrated and warm. We have an early dinner and then try to get some

sleep as we will be getting up at between 11pm and 12pm to start the push to the summit.

06

We start off at around midnight and hike steeply upwards to the summit glaciers. We will be

climbing scree for 4 to 5 hours and gain incredible altitude over a short distance. The views

are spectacular. We should be on the crater rim at Stella Point (5739m) as the first sun rays

hit us. Spectacular ice cliffs within the crater surround us and the views to jagged Mawenzi

peak and beyond are breathtaking. Another hour of trekking takes us to the summit, Uhuru

Peak (5895m). We begin our descent by returning to Stella Point and then start descending

on a scree slope and track back to Barafu Camp for breakfast, before finally heading down

to Millennium Camp for a long well-earned rest. What a day.

our vehicles and return to Moshi, where you can treat yourself to a hot welcome shower.

Well done!

The Best wonderful safari experience

5/5

From our 1st email everything went totally smoothly with Enjoy Kili. We arranged a 4 park safari and it was perfect in every way.

We were met at the airport by David from the office and he explained every thing to us with a big smile.
