Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
Transfer to the hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Hiking time: 3–4 hours
The trail becomes steeper as you approach the high camp.
Barafu Camp is the base camp for the summit attempt; rest and acclimatize there.
Altitude: 4,673m (15,331 ft) to 5,895m (19,341 ft) and descent to 3,100m (10,170 ft).
Hiking time: 6–8 hours to the summit, 4-6 hours descent
Start the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning (midnight to 2 a.m.).
Reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, for sunrise.
Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest, and then continue to Mweka Camp for the night.

Descend through the lush rainforest, completing the trek.
