This route covers approximately 70 kilometres (43.5 miles) in total and offers a more gradual ascent, enhancing acclimatisation and improving the chances of summit success. The journey begins in lush rainforests, ascends through heather and moorland zones, and reveals breathtaking landscapes. The additional acclimatisation day at Karanga Camp further boosts the summit success rate, estimated to be around 85–90%. The Lemosho route is considered moderately to highly difficult, demanding good physical fitness, mental determination, and resilience, especially during the summit night, where trekkers face freezing temperatures and high altitude conditions. Time: 3–4 hours
Start the trek at the Lemosho Gate and walk through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Elevation: 2,750m (9,022ft) to 3,505m (11,499ft)
Hiking distance: 8km (5 miles).
Time: 5–6 hours
Ascend through the rainforest and then into the heather and moorland zone, arriving at Shira 1 Camp.
Elevation: 3,505m (11,499ft) to 3,840m (12,598ft)
Hiking distance: 8km (5 miles).
Time: 4-5 hours
Continue hiking through the rocky terrain and heather zones, and camp at Shira 2 Camp.
Elevation: 3,840m (12,598ft) to 3,960m (13,000ft) at Lava Tower, then descend to 3,960m (13,000ft) at Barranco Camp.
Hiking distance: 10km (6.2 miles).
Time: 6-7 hours
Hike to Lava Tower for acclimatisation and then descend to Barranco Camp in the Great Barranco Wall area.

Cross the Barranco Wall and hike through the Karanga Valley to Karanga Camp for additional acclimatisation.

Ascend to Barafu Camp, the last camp before the summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the summit night.
Elevation: 4,680m (15,350ft) to 5,895m (19,341ft) at Uhuru Peak, and then descend to 3,100m (10,170ft) at Mweka Camp.
Hiking distance: 15km (9.3 miles) ascent, 12km (7.5 miles) descent
Time: 6–8 hours to reach the summit, 5-7 hours to descend to Mweka Camp
Start the summit attempt around midnight, reach the summit (Uhuru Peak) at sunrise, then descend to Mweka Camp for the night.

Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates and say goodbye to your climbing team.

The 7-day Lemosho route allows for better acclimatisation and scenic views throughout the journey. The summit success rate for this route is relatively high, estimated to be around 85–90%. It is considered moderately difficult and suitable for trekkers with good physical fitness and determination.
