Start the trek at the Lemosho Gate and walk through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Elevation: 2,750m (9,022ft) to 3,505m (11,499ft)
Hiking distance: 8km (5 miles).
Time: 5–6 hours
Ascend through the rainforest and then into the heather and moorland zone, arriving at Shira 1 Camp.
Elevation: 3,505m (11,499ft) to 3,840m (12,598ft)
Hiking distance: 8km (5 miles).
Time: 4-5 hours
Continue hiking through the rocky terrain and heather zones, and camp at Shira 2 Camp.
Elevation: 3,840m (12,598ft) to 3,960m (13,000ft) at Lava Tower, then descend to 3,960m (13,000ft) at Barranco Camp.

Start the summit attempt around midnight, reach the summit (Uhuru Peak) at sunrise, then descend to Mweka Camp for the night.
