The Lemosho route offers a longer and more gradual ascent, allowing for better acclimatization and increased chances of reaching the summit successfully. Full board at the forest camp known as Big Tree Camp, hikers are driven by Kizza Adventures Tour's driver and depart from Moshi for Londrossi Gate, which takes about 4 hours where you will complete entry formalities and registration. Then drive to Lemosho Trailhead, which takes an hour to reach. Upon reaching Lemosho trailhead, hikers eat lunch and then commence through an undisturbed forest, which winds to the first campsite, which is a forest camp.

At Shira 1 Camp, climbers will continue to follow the trail leading out of the forest and into the savannah of tall grasses and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards. As we ascend through the lush rolling hills and cross several streams, we reach the Shira ridge before dropping gently down to Shira Camp 1.

Full board at Shira Two camp climbers and the team will explore the Shira plateau for a full day. It is a gentle walk east toward Kibo’s glaciated peak across the plateau, which leads to Shira 2 camp on a moorland meadow by a stream. Then we stay at Shira 2 camp or continue to Moir camp, a little used site at the base of the Lent hills. A variety of walks are available on the hills, making this an excellent acclimatization opportunity.

Departing from Moir Camp, you will pass by the striking lava tower, an iconic volcanic formation. From there, the trail descends to Barranco Camp situated at an elevation of 1300 feet. You will leave Barranco behind and continue your ascent to Karanga Camp. The trail presents a mix of challenges and rewards, including the famous Barranco Wall. As you reach Karanga camp, located at 13,100 feet, the higher altitude becomes palpable, setting the stage for the approaching summit attempt.

After breakfast, the climber will leave Karanga and hit the junction that connects with the Mweka trail. We continue up to Barafu camp. At this point, you have completed the south circuit, which offers elegant views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day.

From midnight to 4:00 a.m., the hiker and the team will continue hiking toward the summit between the Rebmann and Reitzel glaciers. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek at Stella Point. You will stop for a short rest and be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you have ever seen. Once at Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. We will descend to Mweka Camp and enjoy our last overnight on Mount Kilimanjaro.
