Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Arrive in Tanzania, usually at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).

Transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

Meet your climbing team and attend a briefing session with your guide.

Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 2: Lemosho Glades to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Drive to the Lemosho Gate (about 2–3 hours from Moshi).

Complete registration and begin the trek through the lush rainforest.

Trek to Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp).

Approximate trekking time: 3–4 hours.

Altitude: 2,650 meters (8,690 feet).

Overnight camping.

Acommodation: Big tree camp

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Continue the ascent through the rainforest, gradually leaving the trees behind.

Reach the heather zone and enjoy panoramic views of the Shira Plateau.

Trek to Shira 1 Camp.

Approximate trekking time: 5–6 hours.

Altitude: 3,505 meters (11,500 feet).

Overnight camping.

Acommodation: Shira 1camp

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Trek across the Shira Plateau, a vast and surreal landscape.

Pass through the Shira Cathedral and Shira Needle.

Ascend to Shira 2 Camp.

Approximate trekking time: 4-6 hours.

Altitude: 3,840 meters (12,600 feet).

Overnight camping.

Acommodation: Shira 2 Camp

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

Trek eastward towards the Lava Tower, reaching an altitude of 4,630 meters (15,190 feet) before descending to Barranco Valley.

Descend to Barranco Camp via the Great Barranco Wall.

This day includes significant altitude acclimatization.

Approximate trekking time: 6-7 hours.

Altitude: Descend to 3,950 meters (12,960 feet) at Barranco Camp.

Overnight camping.

Acommodation: Barranco camp

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Continue the ascent towards the Karanga Valley.

Traverse several ridges and valleys, offering stunning views of the Southern Icefields.

Trek to Karanga Camp.

Approximate trekking time: 3–4 hours.

Altitude: 3,995 meters (13,106 feet).

Overnight camping.

Acommodation: Karanga camp

Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Ascend through barren alpine desert terrain.

Reach Barafu Camp, the final base camp, before the summit attempt.

Prepare for the summit push and rest.

Approximate trekking time: 3–4 hours.

Altitude: 4,600 meters (15,092 feet).

Overnight camping.

Acommodation: Barafu camp

Day 8: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Start the summit attempt around midnight, aiming to reach Uhuru Peak (the highest point on Kilimanjaro) at sunrise.

Trek through the night, passing Stella Point before reaching Uhuru Peak.

Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and meal.

Continue descending to Mweka Camp.

Approximate trekking time: 11–15 hours for the summit ascent and descent, plus 3–4 hours to Mweka Camp.

Altitude: summit at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), descend to 3,100 meters (10,170 feet) at Mweka Camp.

Overnight camping.

Acommodation: Mweka camp

Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.

Complete the Kilimanjaro National Park exit formalities.

Receive your summit certificates.

Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest and celebration.

Approximate trekking time: 3–4 hours.

Altitude: Descend to 1,650 meters (5,413 feet) at Mweka Gate.
