The Northern Circuit Route is one of the more scenic and less-traveled paths to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. This route provides an excellent opportunity to experience the diverse landscapes and ecosystems of the mountain. The following is an overview of a 9-day itinerary for the Northern Circuit Route.

Altitude: 2,360 meters (7,743 feet)
The journey begins at Londorossi Gate, where you'll register with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities. From there, you'll trek through lush rainforests to Mti Mkubwa Camp, the first overnight stop on the trail.
Altitude: 2,610 meters (8,563 feet)
On the second day, you'll continue through the rainforest before entering the heath and moorland zone. The camp at Shira 1 offers stunning views of the Shira Plateau.
Altitude: 3,840 meters (12,598 feet)
This day involves a steady climb across the Shira Plateau, revealing breathtaking vistas of the surrounding landscapes.
Altitude: Lava Tower (4,630 meters or 15,190 feet), Moir Hut (4,200 meters or 13,780 feet)
You'll ascend to Lava Tower, which is an excellent acclimatization point, before descending to Moir Hut for the night.
Altitude: 4,020 meters (13,189 feet).
This day takes you through a diverse range of terrain, including alpine deserts and volcanic rock formations, as you head towards Buffalo Camp.
Altitude: 3,870 meters (12,697 feet)
The trek continues through the high desert landscape, providing an opportunity to spot various endemic plant species.
Altitude: 4,800 meters (15,748 feet)
As you approach the final ascent, the landscape becomes more barren and rocky. The school hut serves as the base camp for the summit attempt.
Altitude: Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters or 19,341 feet), Mweka Camp (3,100 meters or 10,170 feet)
This is the most challenging day as you make the early morning push for the summit at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your accomplishment, you'll descend on Mweka Camp for the night.
Altitude: 1,640 meters (5,381 feet)
On the final day, you'll complete your descent to Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates before transferring back to your hotel.
