The Selous Game Reserve was first set aside as a wildlife reserve as early as 1896 by German Kaiser Wilhelm II and takes its name from renowned Hunter, explorer, writer and soldier Frederick Courtney Selous, who was killed during the First World War inside the reserve and was buried near to the spot where he fell (marked by a grave to this day.

On this day you will be picked from your hotel in Dar at around 06:00 hours and start drive to Selous. Arrive at your accommodation for lunch and after that head to the Rufiji river for an optional evening boat safari. After game drives will return to your accommodation. Dinner and overnight at the Mpingo Lodge.
After breakfast, set out from 6am until late afternoon on a Game Drive into the Selous Game Reserve. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the wilderness also you can have an optional activity which is boat ride in the Rufiji Rver seeing Hippos and Crocodiles before returning to camp for a hot shower and dinner. Overnight at Africa Safari Camp.
Early morning of this day will depart for walking safari outside the reserve (possible guarded bush walking safari inside the reserve with extra entry fees) to experience Selous wilderness while walking on foot. Will return to the camp for breakfast and there after start drive back to Dar.
