The journey begins at Machame Gate, where you'll register and start your ascent through lush rainforest. The trail gradually steepens as you make your way to Machame Camp, where you'll spend your first night.

Today's trek takes you through the dense forest and up onto the heath and moorland zones. You'll encounter the Shira Plateau and camp at Shira Camp for the night.

The trail ascends to Lava Tower (4,630 meters or 15,190 feet) before descending to Barranco Camp. This day is crucial for acclimatization, as you climb higher and sleep lower.

Trekking Time: About 4–5 hours
You'll tackle the Barranco Wall, a steep climb with some scrambling sections. After reaching the top, the trail levels off as you traverse the southern circuit to Karanga Camp.

Trekking Time: About 3-4 hours
The route ascends steadily to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. You'll rest and prepare for the final push to the summit.

Trekking Time: About 6–8 hours to the summit, 6–8 hours descent to Mweka Camp
This is the most challenging day, as you wake up in the early hours to start the summit attempt. You'll trek through the night, reaching Stella Point before sunrise and then continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, you'll descend to Mweka Camp for the night.

Trekking Time: About 3-4 hours
On the final day, you'll descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates and say goodbye to your guides and porters. From there, you'll be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
