Starting from the western side of the mountain, this route offers a gradual and varied ascent, maximizing your chances of reaching the summit. Trekkers on the Lemosho Route experience breathtaking landscapes, from lush rainforests to expansive heathlands and the surreal Shira Plateau. A highlight of the journey is the ascent to Cathedral Peak on the Shira Plateau, which, at 3,872 meters, provides panoramic views of Kilimanjaro's towering peaks.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you'll be greeted by a representative from Mropean Safaris and transferred to your hotel. The hotel offers everything you need for a relaxing stay, including comfortable rooms, hot showers, a swimming pool, and Wi-Fi. In the evening, you'll attend a briefing with our managers to ensure you're fully prepared for the climb.
Private tour packages include group airport transfers. Additional individual transfers may incur extra costs. To avoid this, try to coordinate your group's arrival and departure times.

After breakfast, you'll be picked up by your guide and mountain support crew. You'll travel 3–4 hours by vehicle to Londorossi Gate, Kilimanjaro National Park's western entrance. Following the registration and permit process, you'll continue by off-road vehicle to your drop-off point at 3,610 meters (11,841 feet), where you’ll experience stunning views of the Shira Plateau.
The trek to Shira 2 Camp is relatively moderate, allowing you to begin acclimatization. By the time you arrive, your crew will have everything set up, including tents and dinner preparation.
Important Tips:
Drink over 4 liters of water daily. Consider taking high-altitude medication after consulting your doctor. Pay close attention to any symptoms of altitude sickness and notify your guide immediately if you feel unwell.

Today’s trek takes you from Shira 2 Camp to the Lava Tower, a significant altitude point at 4,600 meters (15,091 feet). The route includes various ascents and descents, making it challenging but necessary for acclimatization. You'll spend 1-2 hours at Lava Tower for lunch before descending to Barranco Camp.
At Barranco Camp, you'll encounter the imposing Barranco Wall, which you will climb the next day. Although it looks intimidating, the trail is quite manageable.

Start your day with an early breakfast before tackling the Barranco Wall. The climb takes about an hour and is relatively easy, offering fantastic views of the Kibo volcano. Afterward, you'll continue to Karanga Camp, navigating various ascents and descents.
Once at Karanga Camp, you'll enjoy a warm lunch and, later, an acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp with a 300-meter (984-foot) altitude gain before returning to Karanga Camp.

After breakfast, you'll head to Barafu Summit Camp, the starting point for your night ascent to Uhuru Peak. When you arrive, your tents will already be set up, allowing you to rest before the final push to the summit.

You’ll begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak, Kilimanjaro's summit, at night. While the climb is technically simple, the high altitude makes it challenging. Each pair of climbers will be accompanied by a personal guide to monitor their condition. After reaching the summit, you'll descend to Millennium Camp, stopping at Barafu Camp for a brief rest.
Trekking Time: 8-12 hours
Distance: 15 km
Your final descent takes you through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. After the trek, you'll gather with your group to celebrate, share your experiences, and receive your summit certificates. A transfer will then return you to the hotel.
