After 5-6 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Machame Camp (3,010m), where you’ll set up camp, enjoy a warm meal, and begin acclimatizing to the altitude in preparation for the days ahead.
Today, you’ll hike through moorland and rocky terrain as you make your way to Shira Cave Camp at 3,850m. The landscape changes dramatically, offering panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding area. The gradual ascent is essential for acclimatization, and after 5-6 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Shira Cave Camp, where you’ll spend the night and rest in the high-altitude environment.
Day three is a key day for acclimatization. You’ll ascend to Lava Tower, reaching an altitude of 4,630m. This helps your body adjust to the high altitude before you descend to Barranco Camp at 3,960m.
