Day 1: Machame Gate – Machame Camp

Your adventure begins with a drive from Moshi to Machame Gate, where you’ll start your trek into the lush rainforest. The trail is steep but offers beautiful views of the mountain’s lower slopes. After 5-6 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Machame Camp (3,010m), where you’ll set up camp, enjoy a warm meal, and begin acclimatizing to the altitude in preparation for the days ahead.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp

Today, you’ll hike through moorland and rocky terrain as you make your way to Shira Cave Camp at 3,850m. The landscape changes dramatically, offering panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding area. The gradual ascent is essential for acclimatization, and after 5-6 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Shira Cave Camp, where you’ll spend the night and rest in the high-altitude environment.

Day 3: Shira Cave Camp to Lava Tower and Descent to Barranco Camp

Day three is a key day for acclimatization. You’ll ascend to Lava Tower, reaching an altitude of 4,630m. This helps your body adjust to the high altitude before you descend to Barranco Camp at 3,960m. The descent is a crucial part of the acclimatization process, as it allows your body to adjust to the thinner air. Enjoy stunning views along the way as you make your way down to the camp.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Start the day with the iconic Barranco Wall, a steep rock scramble that provides both a challenge and breathtaking views. Once at the top, you’ll continue on a rocky path to Karanga Camp, situated at 4,035m. After 4-5 hours of hiking, you’ll reach the camp, where you’ll rest and prepare for the upcoming higher-altitude trek to Barafu Camp, your final stop before the summit.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

The trail from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp is relatively short but still offers some challenging terrain. After 3-4 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Barafu Camp (4,640m). This camp is where you’ll rest before your summit attempt. It’s essential to hydrate and rest well here, as you’ll be starting your summit ascent in the early hours of the following morning. Get plenty of sleep and mentally prepare for the challenging final push.

Day 6: Ascent to Uhuru Peak and then Descent to Mweka Camp

The summit day begins around midnight, and the climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) is a long and strenuous journey. You’ll push through steep terrain in the darkness, reaching the summit by sunrise. Standing at the highest point in Africa is a moment you’ll never forget. After taking in the breathtaking views and celebrating your success, you’ll begin your descent to Mweka Camp (3,100m), where you’ll rest after the challenging day.

Day 7: Descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi

On the final day, you’ll descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where your Kilimanjaro adventure comes to an end. The descent takes 3-4 hours and allows you to reflect on your journey. At Mweka Gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate, marking the completion of your incredible climb. You’ll then be driven back to Moshi, where you can rest and celebrate your achievement
