Your adventure begins at the Marangu Gate, where you’ll complete registration and meet your guide and fellow climbers. The trek starts through dense rainforest, where you’ll encounter unique flora and fauna. After a 4-5 hour hike, you’ll reach Mandara Hut, your first overnight stop.

After breakfast, continue through the lush forest before reaching the moorland zone. The landscape changes dramatically, offering panoramic views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Today’s trek is longer, but the scenery is breathtaking, with the trail lined with unique plants like giant lobelias.

Today’s trek takes you through the alpine desert. You’ll pass the "Saddle," a barren stretch between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The environment becomes more challenging as you ascend, but the sense of adventure and anticipation grows.

The most challenging yet rewarding day begins just after midnight. You’ll embark on the steep climb to Gilman’s Point (5,685m), located on the crater rim. From here, continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After taking in the incredible views and celebrating your achievement, descend back to Horombo Hut.

Hiking time: 10-15 hours (ascent + descent)

After breakfast, you’ll descend through the moorland and rainforest back to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your certificate for completing the climb. A vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi.
